African Ghost Hunting Safaris - Van Hunks
Ghosts, Haunted Places and Travel in Africa
www.vanhunks.com combines an interest in the weird and mysterious (the paranormal, buried treasure, ghosts, myths and legends, flying saucers, witchcraft, occult crimes, strange but true stories, etc.) with travel. Travel in Africa is the site's speciality, but flights, hotels and rental cars can be booked throughout the world. Sources of information include newspaper and magazine articles, and the work of authors such as Eric Rosenthal, Lawrence Green, I.D. Du Plessis, Penny Miller, T.V.Bulpin, Cynthia Hind and Margaret Williamson. We shall also record anecdotes that we have heard, and a couple of personal experiences that we have been unable to explain.
"The fairest cape in all the circumference of the Earth " is how the Cape Peninsula was described during Sir Francis Drake's voyage, and its scenery, flora and fauna still combine to make it South Africa's favourite destination. Nowhere else can you see wild penguins and baboons, and sometimes whales, dolphins and seals, in one short drive. A convenient way of seeing some of the haunted places of the Cape Peninsula, is to join the Mystery Ghost Bus Tour, created by South African illusionist Mark Rose-Christie. You can get more information at www.mysteryghostbus.co.za.
Then there is the Lowveld, in the northeastern corner of South Africa. Here is the Kruger National Park, larger than some countries. West of this superb game reserve are mountains, forests and waterfalls, the lands of the magical Venda people and of Modjadji the rain queen, the inspiration for H. Rider Haggard's "She Who Must Be Obeyed".
